How the Server Works
The systems that make TomeSMP a blend of open-world anarchy, long-term survival, and community play.
Rivalry is allowed
PvP, competition, and danger are part of the world. Newcomer and death protections limit immediate repeat losses.
Protection is chosen
Claimed land is the safe foundation for a permanent base. Unclaimed builds carry the world’s full risk.
Cooperation pays
Teams, private messages, friends, player warps, and markets support towns and alliances.
Core survival systems
| System | How it changes survival |
|---|---|
| Partial death drops | The server retains your inventory, then drops selected portions from a limited number of occupied slots. |
| Land claims | Golden-shovel claims protect builds and storage. Extra claim blocks cost diamonds. |
| PvP protection | New players begin protected; progression shortens the total protection period. |
| Combat tag | Participating in PvP creates a 15-second combat state. |
| Dynamic markets | Sell prices change independently every 30 minutes. |
| Jobs and levels | Normal play creates both job-specific progress and a server-wide main level. |
Quality-of-life mechanics
Tree felling
Breaking a natural log with leaves above it can chain-break a nearby tree, up to 50 logs within the configured radius. Nearby leaves are also cleared.
Safe Drop
Enable Safe Drop in /settings gameplay. While enabled, dropping an item requires sneaking, reducing accidental losses.
Personal respawn home
Homes can be managed in a GUI, and one can be selected as your respawn point. That home cannot be deleted until another is chosen.
Time and weather voting
Players can vote for day, night, clear weather, rain, or thunder rather than relying on a single player’s command.
