Combat & Death
Understand protection windows, combat tagging, and exactly how partial inventory losses are selected.
PvP protection timeline
| Condition reached | Total protection target |
|---|---|
| First join | 24 hours |
| Diamond/netherite tool plus diamond/netherite armor | 12 hours |
| Enchanted item plus enchanted armor | 3 hours |
| Three PvP deaths | 30 minutes of death protection |
Progression reduces the total newcomer-protection window; it does not add separate windows together. Attacking another player removes death protection immediately.
Combat state
15-second tag
PvP activity creates a 15-second combat tag. The tag ends after 15 seconds without further PvP activity.
Global PvP
The script’s global PvP state defaults to enabled. Individual protections determine whether a specific fight can begin.
What drops when you die
TomeSMP does not use normal “drop everything” survival. The inventory is kept, then selected stacks are partially removed and dropped.
Selection cap
At most 30% of occupied inventory slots are selected, targeting roughly 7–12 stacks when the inventory is large enough.
Stack loss
Each selected stack loses a random 10–25%, rounded up. Single-item tools and armor therefore lose the item when selected.
Weighted selection
Valuable resources are weighted more heavily than armor, hotbar items, offhand items, and shulker boxes.
| Category | Selection weight |
|---|---|
| Armor, hotbar, and offhand | 5% |
| Shulker boxes | 1% |
| Valuable resources | 30% |
| Other items | 64% |
